On the evening of March 31, more than 500 Orange County foodies and wine aficionados descended upon SOCO in Costa Mesa for the 2nd Annual SOCO Uncorked, a wine and food pairing experience featuring SOCO’s award-winning restaurants and more than 30 wine producers from around the world. Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed small bites from favorite eateries including Taco Maria, Bistro Papillote, Pueblo, and ARC with wine pairings curated by LCA Wine’s Nancy Milby. Prior to the tasting event, VIP guests experienced a private wine seminar with Sommelier Peter Neptune of Neptune School of Wine and a live duck deconstruction demo by ARC restaurant’s executive chef Noah Blom. Set in SOCO�s spacious outdoor courtyard, guests also enjoyed live music by Tijuana Dogs’ Matt Mauser and the Frank Sinatra Tribute Band. Through Uncorked’s ticket sales, wine purchases, and generous donations from guests and sponsors, SOCO Uncorked raised more than $10,000 for local non-profit Project Home Alliance, which will help end homelessness for seven Orange County families.

Wine Trends from Master Sommelier Peter Neptune

Orange County’s first Master Sommelier, Peter Neptune, may be an Orange County local, but he has a world of experience when it comes to all things wine. In this exclusive one hour seminar at LCA Wine at SOCO, Peter will guide you through a historical “review” of the major wine regions and styles of wine. The master somm will then give you his unique perspective on how the wine industry has evolved to the current day with the madness of scores, technology improvements, social consciousness, “green” marketing, climate change, and the impact of the global economy. He’ll wrap up the seminar with a conclusion on where he thinks it’s all going, and what to look for as a continuing source of great value and emerging markets. Duck Deconstruction with Chef Noah Blom of ARC, Restaurant Marin and The Guild Club

If it quacks like a duck… SOCO’s own Chef Noah Blom, owner and chef of the award winning ARC restaurant at SOCO, will demonstrate how to deconstruct a duck, and discuss how all of the various and sundry parts are used. Small bites will be offered of the delicious morsels, featuring duck of course, and will represent all three of Chef Noah’s SOCO restaurants, including the highly anticipated Restaurant Marin and The Guild, both coming to SOCO Winter 2016.
