Title: Senior Interior Design Consultant
- Why do you love working at SOCO and/or what’s a favorite memory from your time working at the center?
I really like the open space concept here at SOCO, and there are nice restaurants to enjoy a great meal during your lunch break or to come hang out with your family. We love the Farmer’s Market on Saturdays.
- How did you get into the design industry?
I have always been passionate about design, music, arts, and architecture. My sister and other members of the family are also in the design industry. From a young age, I wanted to pursue a career in architecture.
- Why are you passionate about what you do?
I enjoy creating new things and have a passion for helping others achieve their dream homes. It is so rewarding finding solutions for my client’s space to reflect their lifestyles and aesthetics.
- What is your favorite showroom at SOCO besides your own?
There really isn’t another showroom like BoConcept, which is why I love calling this amazing showroom home!
- Is there anything you would like to say to the Costa Mesa community at large?
Especially during these uncertain times, we should stop letting our potential go to waste just because we don’t feel confident or ready enough. People with half your talent are making serious waves while you’re still waiting to feel ready. Follow your heart and dreams!
SusieCakes makes everyday special with their homemade quality, buttery baked goodness. And if you need an excuse to indulge in these special treats, it is your lucky day! SusieCakes has added a variety of Green, Irish themed goodies to their menu in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. You can choose from shamrock frosted cookies and custom themed cakes and cupcakes. They even created Do-It-Yourself cookie and cupcake decorating kits that you can take home to do with the kids. What is the perfect finish to a corned beef and cabbage dinner, you ask? A Guinness chocolate cupcake, of course!
You can order your St. Patrick’s Day and other special treats online and arrange a pick-up time that works best for you! The SOCO location is now open Wednesday – Sunday 11:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Saturday mornings are made for relaxing strolls through stalls of fresh fruits and vegetables. Whether planning your healthy meals for the week or just picking up some treats for later, it feels fun to be outside shopping directly from the growers.
The SoCo Farmer’s Market has an array of local vendors who sell seasonal produce straight from the farm. Additionally, specialty sellers offer wholesome, small batch prepared foods such as tamales, gumbo, bakery delicacies and Salvadoran pupusas that you can eat as you go or bring home for later. This week the market welcomes OC Wild Seafood who will be selling fresh caught, never frozen tuna, sea bass, halibut and more. He will be selling alongside other vendors offering free-range meats, local honey (which is a great treatment for those who suffer allergies from spring blossoms), and free-range eggs. You can also pick up flowers and other small gift items – it’s a one stop shop!
And for those who like to sleep in a little later on the weekends, the SoCo Farmer’s Market’s hours will work for you. Open 9:00 am – 2:00 pm, you can do an early shop or get there after lunch. Parking is ample and don’t forget to pick up a cup of joe either at the market or inside at Portola Coffee. Start the weekend off right this week. See you at the Farmer’s Market.
Introducing: Kseniya Milius! Kseniya is the OC Showroom Manager at the renowned contemporary showroom Modani. As a dedicated Modani team member, Kseniya went above and beyond this past year and helped the showroom navigate through such unprecedented times – enabling Modani to remain in business through the pandemic by rebuilding her entire sales team and retraining staff members.
Read below to learn more about her passion for working in the design industry and why she loves South Coast Collection.
Why do you love working at SOCO and/or what’s a favorite memory from your time working at the center? From creating amazing relationships with the PR + Marketing teams and neighboring showrooms, to the memories made during fun events such as Day of Design, weekly Farmers Markets, and live performances, SOCO has become a very place to me.
How did you get into the design industry? I had the opportunity to start my Interior Design journey with HD Buttercup where I learned so much about styles of furniture, color effects and space concepts. A few years ago, I was offered a Sales Representative position at Modani, which was new to California at the time. Once I saw the furniture selection, prices, and design concepts, I never looked back! Modani is not only a great place to work, but is the perfect place for shoppers to relax and shop with joy.
Why are you passionate about what you do? I am passionate about what I do because I love helping and educating anyone who wants to learn! Many visitors don’t know how to piece a room, house, or patio together and they are so happy to have design experts explain to them patiently without forcing a sale.
What is your favorite store at SOCO (besides your own)? After Modani, my next favorite showroom would be HD Buttercup and Lightopia as it is definitely an experience to walk through so many amazing light fixtures.
Is there anything you would like to say to the Costa Mesa community at large? I love Costa Mesa because it is a mixed city of beach lovers and working travelers – at Modani we have options for everyone’s lifestyle!
