As we all do our part for the greater community by staying home, it seems that comfortable + easy-to-wear apparel has become part of our daily routine.  Luckily, Eva Waite of Eva’s Trunk and Denim Bar has put together a roundup of the shop’s most comfortable (and chic!) outfits to wear while lounging at home as well as a few best-selling shoes that are perfect for those walks around the neighborhood when you need some fresh air.  Click the image on the left to check out these hand-selected Stay-at-Home must-haves.

To our SOCO + The OC Mix community,

First and foremost, on behalf of all businesses at SOCO + The OC Mix, we want to say thank you for all of the support you’ve provided to our family of tenants. We are so thankful for you during this time and appreciate each and every one of you!

Because we are unable to gather at SOCO + The OC Mix, we’ve created this space as a way to stay united virtually. Twice per week, we will share new blog posts to keep the Orange County community and beyond up to date on all of the latest offerings, design trends, must-have items, food specials, and more.  PLUS, we are taking the SOCO Kids Club events online, so stay tuned for family-friendly storytime and crafts!

We hope this blog will help us all get through this time together while also supporting local businesses and will continue to be a resource to find the latest SOCO + The OC Mix offerings for months (and years!) to come.

We hope everyone is staying safe & healthy during this time. With the state of California’s “Safer at Home” order, all non-essential businesses at SOCO + The OC Mix are temporarily closed. Many, however, are continuing to offer online ordering options, delivery services, special deals, etc. in addition to the majority of restaurants remaining open for pick up, curbside, or delivery services.

Restaurant Updates:

See below for SOCO + The OC Mix restaurant offerings as teams continue to serve the community. Stay tuned for additional updates to come:

  • ARC – The restaurant is temporarily closed until April 1
  • Birdie Bowl & Juicery – All of the shop’s menu items are available to go and are a great healthy option during this time; new business hours are 8a – 4p daily
  • Eggslice – Updated business hours are Wednesday through Sunday 7a – 1p and customers are welcome to order for take out OR order for delivery via Postmates, Grubhub, and Yelp; Check in on Eggslice’s Instagram and website for updated information and place orders online for takeout here.
  • Farmers’ Market – The SOCO market will remain open and continue to implement new guidelines provided by LA County’s Health Department, (suspending hot foods, removing our seating area, etc.). Signage has been added that reminds customers to wash their produce and their hands. The market manager has also been instructed to enforce social distancing in check-out lines. 
  • Greenleaf – SOCO’s location is temporarily closed until further notice – all operations have been moved to 17th Street location (take out, delivery, etc.)
  • Moulin – Restaurant is temporarily closed as of 3/22; Please refer to Moulin’s Instagram page here for future updates
  • Portola Coffee Roasters – The shop is open from 7a – 6p daily; Customers may place to go orders ahead online (delivery coming soon); gift cards also available for purchase and 20% of gift card sales go back to Portola staff to help them through this time. 
  • Pueblo – The restaurant has closed temporarily in the interest of public safety  
  • Rich Elixirs – The team launched online delivery & curbside as of 3/17; also offering buy 3 get the 4th free immunity shots + 15% off if customers bring in their own cup; Plus, enjoy a new special offering every day this week:
    • Monday: Ginger shots in bulk (17oz. for $20); continuing for the next week
    • Tuesday: Free delivery on orders over $35 (shop online here) and use code FREESHIP; plus, 10% off Bone Broth using code STAYSAFE

  • Shuck Oyster Bar – The restaurant is temporarily closed
  • Sunright Tea Studio – Adjusted hours are 11a – 6p daily; The shop is open for to go orders that customers may call in at 949-232-3750 or order online
  • SusieCakes – The shop is temporarily closed
  • Taco Maria – The restaurant team has decided to close temporarily to help flatten the curve of the coronavirus and ensure health & safety of Taco Maria customers, employees, families, etc. 
  • Temakira – Customers may place phone orders for pick up at 949-650-0305 in addition to order delivery on Grubhub, Doordash, Postmates, and Uber Eats
  • The Cheese Shop – The shop’s adjusted hours are Sunday – Thursday 9:30a – 6p and Friday – Saturday 9a – 6p; Take out and curbside pick up available (order online here) in addition to Doordash, Grubhub, and Postmates delivery available.

As we continue to receive new updates and information, we want to make sure to keep the SOCO + The OC Mix community up to date on all of the businesses at the center – there are various offerings to take advantage of, such as virtual styling sessions, take out/delivery offerings, and more.

A Lovely February with The SOCO + The OC Mix’s Kids Club! 

Calling all creative kiddos of Orange County! SOCO + The OC Mix’s all-new Kids Club continues this month bringing fun events and interactive programming to children and their families. This month’s event will be held on Wednesday, February 19 from 10a to 11a and will include a reading of the book “The Day it Rained Hearts” in addition to music performed by Ms. Cara LaGreen. Introducing SOCO’s Kids Club! 

Calling all creative kiddos of Orange County! SOCO + The OC Mix has an all-new Kids Club launching this month that will bring fun events and interactive programming to the center all year long.  The very first event will be held on Wednesday, January 15 from 10a to 11a, with the fun to continue the third Wednesday of each month.  Every event will offer a live story reading, music + dancing, and a fun craft with January’s event to feature a reading of Tacky the Penguin along with an adorable penguin craft. Roomscapes’ Coffee with a Designer 

Beginning this January, Roomscapes with be hosting monthly “Coffee with a Designer” workshops where attendees will learn the many different facets of the home remodeling process over coffee and light bites with a different theme guiding the event each month. Join Us for Holidays by Design! 

Celebrate the holidays with SOCO+ The OC Mix’s Holidays by Design events! Running every Saturday through December 21, guests are invited to bring the whole family to enjoy a holiday photo booth from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. along with live music inside The OC Mix from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Chuck Jones Center will also be hosting holiday Storytime with Mrs. Claus from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. featuring a live book reading and craft activity for your little ones.  WHILE STORYTIME IS FREE, AN RSVP IS REQUIRED AND CAN BE DONE HERE.

Opening Soon!

Just announced – Jax & Bones, a trailblazer in dog bed & toy design, will soon be opening inside the OC Mix! Jax & Bones specializes and is dedicated to creating sustainable, high quality, stylish pet products. Handcrafted in the United States, this family owned brand was inspired by female founder & CEO, Tina Nguyen. Her desire to  discover better quality products for her beloved beagle, Jax led her to create a company built on the belief that good design isn’t just for humans.  The shop is scheduled to open this weekend, so be sure to come by and check out SOCO + The OC Mix’s newest business for yourself.

Tackle Box Gives Back 

Tackle Box has a tasty way for you to give back this season! Now through Tuesday, December 31, the restaurant will donate 10% of each participating guest’s bill directly to Patriots and Paws – a nonprofit organization that provides resources to support veterans, active military, reservists and their families in addition to helping those who are interested get paired with a companionship animal.  In order to take part in this great cause, simply dine at Tackle Box between now and 12/31 and mention the fundraiser to any of Tackle Box’s employees.

A Holiday Open House at The Chuck Jones Gallery 

The holidays have arrived! The Chuck Jones Gallery cordially invites you to a Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 7 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. where guests will celebrate this joyous season with scrumptious treats and festive libations alongside beautiful vintage artwork and great gift ideas galore. Attendees will also receive a FREE print of a drawing done by Chuck Jones of his grandson in 1964 that commemorates the holidays.  The Chuck Jones team looks forward to seeing you there!
