UPCOMING EVENTS

PIRCH’S Ultimate Grill Event

Learn how to make the most of your summer cookouts with PIRCH’s Ultimate Grill Event!  This Saturday, July 27 from 11:00 a.m. to3:00 p.m., BBQ lovers and grill masters alike are invited to join PIRCH and DCS Grills for a delicious + informative lunch event featuring Pasturebird Chicken.  Attendees will taste chicken and other delightful dishes prepared by the amazing DCS grill while also hearing from expert chefs who will share the fascinating ins and outs of the DCS grill that was used to prepare lunch.  Savory Spice Shop and Sir Owlverick’s Coffee will also be in attendance to offer tasty samples and speak on all things spices and coffee.

Paint & Sip at Chuck Jones
Join the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity on the evening of Friday, July 26 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for a night of Chuck Jones Pop Art! Expert teaching artists will guide you through the step-by-step process of painting one of Chuck’s beloved characters and will help you create a colorful, one of a kind work of art using nontraditional tools. Storytime at Cilek Kids Room
Stop by Cilek Kids Room all summer long for Storytime!  This hour-long creative and interactive program will feature live music, dance, and storytelling at each event along with a parent and child art activity to end the day.  Once Storytime is complete, families are invited to the SOCO Farmers’ Market to take part in a tasting tour with Market Bucks-tokens that can be spent on anything inside the market.  The first Storytime event will take place this weekend on Saturday, July 27 at11:00 a.m. and will feature the “Goodnight Moon” storybook.  Storytime will continue once monthly until October on 8/24, 9/28, and10/26 with different stories and activities featured each month.  While Storytime is a free event, registration is required to hold your spot, so please click here to reserve your space and to see further information and topics for each of the events.

This summer, Designer Camp – the only comprehensive & collaborative design-based summer camp for young creatives ages 11-17 – will host two workshop series at the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity at SOCO + The OC Mix!

Meet Anna-Marie Claassen of Anthology Interiors
If you’ve seen the incredible new spring/summer display windows at SOCO + The OC Mix, you’re looking at the work of Anna-Marie Claassen of Anthology Interiors.  Anna-Marie got her start in design at the tender age of 9 when she received her first dollhouse, and never looked back!  After studying Interior Design at Ivy Tech College, she began working in Orange County’s high-end residential interior design world before launching Anthology Interiors.  Through Anthology, she’s completed an array of projects – from furnishings to heavy remodels to new home builds – all with a focus on colors, patterns & improving quality of life through design.  We think you’ll agree her passion shines through her work!  For more information, visitwww.anthologyinteriors.com

OC Register: See smart toilets, furniture for small spaces and other 2016 home design trends

The smart toilets in the Pirch home showroom automatically lift their lids as shoppers approach. A touch of a pad can heat a cold seat, turn on a built-in bidet or even stream music – through a toilet’s speakers.

The gee-whiz stuff at nearby Cisco Home is old, but re-purposed. A grain sifter has become a giant light shade. A conveyer belt and a brake rotor were turned into tables.

High-tech and artisanal may be at opposite ends of the home design spectrum, but both are trendy for 2016.
